Salvoandrea Lucifora (1990) is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser, composer and educator originally from Sicily (IT) based in Amsterdam(NL) and active in the European creative music scene. He plays brass instruments, his main instrument being the tenor trombone and he also performs on tuba, sousaphone and trumpet adding some times live electronics to his set. Salvoandrea’s voice on brass instruments is the result of an integrative process that reflects his passion for jazz and his explorative attitude to music, which has led him to enrich his vocabulary with the use of a wide array of extended techniques and to explore the extreme sound possibilities of the instruments. His musical research strives to widen his sound imaginary’s horizons and investigate the creative processes involved in improvisation. Salvoandrea studied Jazz Trombone and Cinema and Multimedia engineering in Turin (IT) since 2009. In those years he has been part of the young jazz and improvised music scene of the city, actively collaborating with the collective of improvisers Mediterraneo Radicale, with great musicians and friends Pasquale Calo’, Luca Curcio, Marco Piccirillo, Emilio Berne’, Donato Stolfi, Andrea Bozzetto amongst others. In 2016 he moved to the Netherlands for his Master of Music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Salvoandrea is since then based in the Dutch capital, taking inspiration from the vibrant art scene of the city and collaborating with musicians like Burton Green, Michael Moore, Raoul van der Weide, Wolter Wierbos, Han Buhrs, Hank Zwerwer, Michiel Schijn, Nora Mulder, Frank Rosaly, Aaron Lumley, Fabio Galeazzi, Jeroen Kimman, Jasper Stadhoauders, John Dikeman, Onno Govaert, Marta Warelis, Andrius Dereviancenko, Alistair Payne and many others.
